Aldehurst is a luxurious detached dwelling situated in a central location of a local coastal town. The project consisted of extensive remodelling and extending to the main house as well as the construction of a new pool house building and separate annex building.
The aesthetics were important to the client to maintain the traditional look of the building whilst acknowledging the changes and additions to the dwelling. The concrete roof tiles were replaced with black glazed pantiles and the red brick façade was replaced with a through colour render. Traditional run cornices and plaster details maintain a traditional flow internally and externally. By implementing a full AV system and new mechanical and electrical services it brought the project in line with the clients’ current living requirements.
A traditional lead canopy on solid cast iron columns was wrapped around the property to add depth to the façade. All sash windows were restored and where required repaired/replaced and new stained glass windows added at the main entrances.
The pool and annex buildings used traditional materials such as Oak cladding, Oak shakes to the Pool roof with bespoke joinery externally and internally.
