Hillbury is a new build detached bungalow on the edge of Aldeburgh with far reaching views out to sea. The new build replaced an existing detached bungalow with a view to providing a modern living environment for the future retirement of the owners.

The layout of the proposed house was carefully considered to maximise the views from the plot to the ocean and this was achieved with open plan areas and large sections of aluminium timber composite glazing to the rear elevations. The first floor living area also has access to a decked area over the flat roof.

The use of stained oak cladding and handmade facing bricks aid this by giving the fa├žade a more agricultural barn-like appearance.

The replacement house was designed to be highly efficient and economic to run, with underfloor heating, a highly efficient boiler, triple glazing and high levels of insulation to provide a warm comfortable home for the client.

The floor is finished with a porcelain polished concrete effect tile giving a consistent finish and maintaining the rural agricultural feel of the property. Bedrooms are finished with engineered Oak floor boards.
